About the Health Coach

Hey, Hi, Hello!

Hi, I’m Hilary—a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and the founder of Rediscover Wellness LLC in Winston-Salem, NC.

I help adults over 40 who feel frustrated and disconnected from their body to discover and build sustainable wellness habits that restore energy, bring balance, and create more joyful living.

Our wellness needs evolve as we age. What may have served us in our younger years no longer helps us the same way today. To best support our health and well-being, it becomes important to make lifestyle adjustments for our ever-changing bodies. But this is easier said than done.

Social media trends, pharmaceutical companies, and “miracle” products can be tempting to try—especially when you’re tired of feeling stuck. But these quick fixes rarely offer lasting change-- and they often make us feel like we’ve done something wrong when they don’t work.

Achieving wellness doesn't happen overnight nor is it a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s about finding what works for you. As a health coach, I partner with and guide clients through a process of self-discovery, helping to build healthy habits one small, meaningful step at a time.

Health coaching for simple lifestyle changes

My coaching is rooted in partnership. I believe that every person already holds the wisdom they need to live a healthier, more fulfilling life. My role is to help you uncover that wisdom through guided reflection, practical tools, and compassionate support. Together, we explore what matters most to you in your current stage of life and take small, practical steps that fit your lifestyle, so you can move forward with confidence and joy.

I coach from a place of curiosity, not judgment. We will talk about your strengths, past successes, and current capabilities because when you build on what’s already working, you become more efficient and gain faster momentum toward personal goals. I believe in progress over perfection, and that meaningful change comes from consistent actions that honor your values.

I received my health coaching education from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute (now partnered with the American Council on Exercise), earning two specialized life-stage certifications to teach and coach families with children and aging adults for happier, more vibrant living. I also earned a Master Health Coach Certification, where I trained in evidence-based behavioral change methods that empower individuals in developing and achieving self-determined wellness goals. Additionally, I received advanced training in chronic disease management and prevention, equipping me with the knowledge to support clients facing a variety of health challenges. In 2024, I achieved board certification through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), recognized worldwide as the highest standard of care in health coaching. My client-centered approach focuses on identifying and building upon each individual’s strengths and past successes with appreciation, fostering motivation and growth with a positive focus on present and future possibilities.

Beyond my health coach certifications, I hold a diploma in dental assisting from Forsyth Tech Community College, where I graduated at the top of my class. I went on to pass the Dental Assisting National Board exam to earn my board certification and worked in a variety of dental office settings with adults and children of all ages for 12 years. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I focused on human health and development. I believe my diverse educational background and commitment to continuous learning have deepened my understanding and appreciation for each person’s unique journey—one shaped by their values, capabilities and evolving discoveries along the way. Drawing from both my professional and personal experiences, I approach health coaching with a holistic and evidence-based perspective, helping clients create sustainable habits for long-term health and well-being.

My professional and educational experiences have shown me the profound impact that caring for yourself has on your overall well-being. When you give your body what it needs, your physical and mental health are strengthened, leading to a greater sense of purpose and improved happiness. As a result, your relationships flourish, your focus improves, your energy is enhanced, and you develop a positive self-image. Together, these elements help you to thrive and live purposefully.

Helping others achieve wellness isn’t just my work—it’s how I live, too. Some of my favorite ways to recharge include Pilates, kickboxing, and engaging in other strength and cardio workouts that keep me challenged and moving. In the kitchen, I love experimenting with whole-food meals and healthier baked goods—especially when I can win the taste approval of my family!

I thrive on quality time with my family and close friends, exploring the outdoors, gardening, reading, listening to podcasts, networking, and helping others. And I never miss a chance to enjoy the sweet and silly moments with my two fur-babies: Theo, a 14-year-old Shih Tzu, and Tessa, an 11-year-old Australian Shepherd mix.
