About the Health Coach

Hey, Hi, Hello!!

My name is Hilary Stewart and I am the founder, health coach, and wellness educator of Rediscover Wellness LLC, located in Winston-Salem, NC.

I help men and women, overwhelmed and overburdened by their daily duties, discover what they need in order to make lasting lifestyle changes to feel stronger, happier, and healthier.

These days are tough! Despite the convenience of having technology, our days seem to be getting busier. Our responsibilities to our families and our career keep us constantly moving. When we focus more on those responsibilities, we often spend less time fulfilling our own needs, particularly our health needs. Then stress happens. I know, I've been there!

When it comes to achieving optimal health, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. We all come from unique life experiences and we all have different abilities. Our desires, values, and needs are different. As a health coach, I understand the challenges and frustrations of making (or sticking with!) lifestyle changes. If you've tried all the fancy motivational gadgets and apps or you've struggled with maintaining consistent healthy practices, then working with a health coach might be perfect for you!

Health coaching for simple lifestyle changes

Health coaching is more than just 'helping someone get healthy'. Health coaches act as guides, offering the right tools, resources, and support, as needed, so their clients feel comfortable and happy along their wellness journey. Without the right aids, managing health can be challenging. Doctors and other medical professionals simply don't have the time (or training) to help you through a personalized plan for making wellness changes. Health coaches are active listeners, compassionate communicators, and seek to understand what more deeply motivates their clients when pursuing health goals. Achieving better health starts in the mind and requires some time.

My previous work as a Certified Dental Assistant as well as my science-based educational background taught me that taking care of your health greatly improves your overall well-being. When you give your body what it needs, your physical and mental health is strengthened and you feel happier. As a result, your relationships flourish, your focus improves, your energy is enhanced, and you develop a positive self-image. I believe all of these elements together make you thrive.

I hold a Master Health Coach Certification from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute, which is partnered with the American Council on Exercise, recognized by the American Medical Association, and accredited by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching. My education focused on evidence-based coaching methods that support behavior change as well as advanced health education on chronic disease and disease prevention, all with a client-centered approach. Additionally, I obtained two life-stage certifications through the institute: one certification that qualifies me to teach healthy living for families (L.E.A.N. Start) and another certification that qualifies me to teach healthy living for adults of all ages (Prime Time Health).

Beyond my Health Coach Certifications, I have a Diploma in Dental Assisting from Forsyth Tech Community College where I graduated top in my class. Afterwards, I completed and passed the Dental Assisting National Board exam and obtained my certification. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My diverse educational background and continual pursuits toward additional learning has helps me to better understand the complexities of human health and well-being. It is from my personal experiences that I approach health coaching with a holistic and evidence-based perspective.

When I'm not coaching, I enjoy staying active and challenged by Pilates, strength training, and cardio. In the kitchen, I eagerly experiment with nutritious whole-food dishes and healthier baked goods to win the taste approval of my family. I love sharing quality time with my family and friends, delighting in the outdoors, tending to plants, reading, participating in networking events, providing help to others, and cherishing the funny and adorable moments with my fur-babies- a 12-year-old Shih Tzu and a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd mix.
