About the Health Coach

Hey, Hi, Hello!!_processed.png

Hi, I’m Hilary—a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and founder of Rediscover Wellness LLC in Winston-Salem, NC.

I help aging adults reach their most ideal vision of wellness by guiding them to discover their strengths, past successes, and current capabilities so they can stay active, feel more balanced, and experience more joy in their daily lives.

In today’s complex health system, having dedicated and personalized support can make all the difference when implementing a new lifestyle change. Many medical professionals focus on managing illness and often lack the time or training to provide in-depth wellness coaching. Health coaches fill this gap by offering personalized attention, active listening, and compassionate guidance to help individuals create and maintain meaningful health goals.

While many people set physical goals for healthier living, my approach to health coaching goes beyond nutrition guidance and exercise recommendations. I partner with my clients on a journey of self-discovery, helping them better understand their evolving needs and values. With so many resources available, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure. As your health coach, we’ll work together to explore strategies that fit your life, and experiment with small, sustainable actions that align with your long-term vision for wellness.

Health coaching for simple lifestyle changes

I received my health coaching education from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute (now partnered with the American Council on Exercise), earning two specialized life-stage certifications to teach and coach families with children and aging adults for happier, more vibrant living. I also earned a Master Health Coach Certification, where I trained in evidence-based behavioral change methods that empower individuals in developing and achieving self-determined wellness goals. Additionally, I received advanced training in chronic disease management and prevention, equipping me with the knowledge to support clients facing a variety of health challenges. In 2024, I achieved board certification through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), recognized worldwide as the highest standard in health coaching. My client-centered approach focuses on identifying and building upon each individual’s strengths and past successes with appreciation, fostering motivation and growth with a positive focus on present and future possibilities.

Beyond my health coach certifications, I hold a diploma in dental assisting from Forsyth Tech Community College, where I graduated at the top of my class. I went on to pass the Dental Assisting National Board exam to earn my board certification and worked in a variety of dental office settings with adults and children of all ages for 12 years. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I focused on human health and development. I believe my diverse educational background and commitment to continuous learning have deepened my understanding and appreciation for each person’s unique journey—one shaped by their values, capabilities and evolving discoveries along the way. Drawing from both my professional and personal experiences, I approach health coaching with a holistic and evidence-based perspective, helping clients create sustainable habits for long-term health and well-being.

My previous work as a dental assistant, combined with my science-based educational background, has allowed me to discover the profound impact that taking care of your health has over your overall well-being. When you give your body what it needs, both your physical and mental health are strengthened, leading to a greater sense of purpose and increased happiness. As a result, your relationships flourish, your focus improves, your energy is enhanced, and you develop a positive self-image. Together, these elements allow you to thrive and live purposefully.

When I'm not coaching, I enjoy being active and challenged by Pilates, strength training, and cardio. In the kitchen, I eagerly experiment with nutritious whole-food dishes and healthier baked goods to win the taste approval of my family. I love sharing quality time with my family and friends, exploring the outdoors, gardening, reading, networking, helping others, and cherishing the funny and adorable moments with my fur-babies- Theo, a 13-year-old Shih Tzu, and Tessa, an 11-year-old Australian Shepherd mix.
